Salt Lake City School District in Utah receives a $1,222,653 check!

SALT LAKE CITY, December 2024 — In 2024, Salt Lake City School District installed solar energy systems at six schools: Nibley Park, Whittier, Washington, Newman, Emerson, and Bonneville. The projects were completed by McKinstry, a national leader in high-efficiency buildings, and mark the first in a series of solar installations to receive energy tax credits through Elective Pay. In December 2024, the district received $1,222,563 in federal reimbursements for these systems.

Solar installations have since been completed at seven additional schools, and plans are underway for nearly a dozen more projects, including more solar energy and ground-source heat pumps. These projects will help reduce the district’s operating costs, and provide a plentiful, affordable domestic energy supply. All are eligible for energy tax credits through Elective Pay.
